A collection of family moments that became books

Not all stories begin with a plan.

Some begin with a sentence a child says.
Some begin with a feeling you don’t want to forget.
And some begin quietly, as a moment you know you’ll want to hold onto, long after it has passed.

Many of my books are like that.

They aren’t just stories, they are little pieces of our family life, gathered over the years and gently turned into something I could keep.

Mummy, I finally found you!

Mummy, I Finally Found You

This story grew from Ash.

He has always been a little climber, always close, always nearby, always wanting to be with me. There’s a rhythm to the way he moves through the world, curious, determined, and full of energy.

And one of the things he says, often and so simply, is:

Mummy, I finally found you.

It’s such a small sentence, but it carries so much.
So that’s where the story began, capturing his voice, his character, and those everyday moments that pass so quickly.

I Don’t Want to Get Dressed

Before Ash, there was Oscar at much the same age.

And Oscar absolutely did not want to get dressed.

He loved being free, running around, often completely naked, and especially drawn to water. There’s a moment in the book where he sits happily in a simple bucket of warm water, playing away, completely content.

That story, like Ash’s, came from observing those small but very vivid phases of childhood. The kind that feel endless at the time, and then suddenly they’re gone.

Carried by Moonlight

Carried by Moonlight

Caius’s story is quieter.

Carried by Moonlight began as a poem that came to me when he was born. His birth was a little unexpected, a little different, but still calm in its own way.

When he arrived, he felt so small and perfectly formed, like a smooth little pebble. That image stayed with me.

Even now, I still have the idea of finding or creating a stone that matches his birth weight, six pounds, two ounces, and painting it to look like him as a baby. A small, physical way of holding onto that moment.

Some stories don’t need much shaping.
They arrive almost complete.

Dream Boat Family

Dreamboat Family

This one comes from a slightly different kind of memory.

For a time, we had a narrowboat and spent days along the river between Guildford and Godalming. We didn’t completely leave everything behind, we still had our home and everyday life, but for those moments on the water, it felt like we had stepped into something slower.

There were practical challenges, of course.
Shopping meant loading up a buggy and walking along the riverbank. Cars had to be left in different places and collected later. Nothing was ever quite straightforward.

But it didn’t matter.

There was something about being close to the water, to the trees, to the quiet movement of the river, that made it all worthwhile.

The illustrations in that book are drawn from real moments, real places we passed, small snapshots of a time that felt a little bit like an adventure.

Nine Years of Nursing

Nine Years of Nursing (coming soon)

Some stories take longer to find their final shape.

This one began as a blog I wrote when Caius was born. Over time, it grew into something more, a collection of thoughts, experiences, and reflections from nine years of breastfeeding.

It’s not just practical, and it’s not just personal, it sits somewhere in between. Honest, sometimes funny, sometimes challenging, and very much part of our family story.

This is one I’m still shaping, but it feels important to tell.

Holding onto the moments

Looking back, I think that’s what these books really are.

They are a way of holding onto moments that might otherwise disappear.

The things children say.
The phases they move through.
The places you live, even briefly.
The feelings that come and go before you quite have time to understand them.

Not every story needs to be grand or dramatic.

Sometimes the smallest ones are the most worth keeping.
